Simply Curated began in 2012 in the basement of founder Sarah Hart’s parents’ home in Queens, New York. Originally an online shop for vintage pieces with a minimalist aesthetic, the business took an unexpected turn when Sarah began hand-pouring soy candles into beautiful vintage barware. The candles quickly became more popular than the vintage housewares themselves, inspiring Sarah to make fragrance the new focus of Simply Curated.
In 2014, Sarah moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she established a studio, hired her first employee and began developing Simply Curated’s own candle collections. What started as a one-woman business has since grown into a small local team, while the candles continue to be made by hand in Grand Rapids.
Each Simply Curated candle is hand-poured using 100% soy wax blended in small batches with fragrances and essential oils. The candles are phthalate-free, and every one is individually poured, labeled and packaged in the studio. Elegant vessels and a clean, understated aesthetic reflect the minimalist sensibility that has been part of Simply Curated from the beginning.
