Ovis

Created in Austria in 2001 by family-run HanSen, Ovis takes its name from the Latin word for sheep—a fitting name for a collection defined by its use of organic sheep milk. Based in the Salzburg lake district, the company brings decades of experience and a genuine love of soap to gentle, thoughtfully made body care.

At the heart of Ovis soaps is organic sheep milk, naturally rich in fats, proteins, vitamins and nutrients. Formulas are enriched with ingredients such as sweet almond oil and shea butter, along with carefully selected plant oils, botanical extracts and essential oils depending on the fragrance. Ovis products are made without paraffin, silicones, parabens or microplastics.

What began with sheep milk soap in just ten shapes and one fragrance has grown into a playful collection of soaps and body care in a wide range of scents and forms—including the charming sheep-shaped soaps for which Ovis has become especially recognizable. Thoughtful packaging and whimsical designs make the collection as delightful to give as it is to use.

People and community are also an important part of the Ovis story. For more than 15 years, HanSen has worked with Kooperative Werkstatt (KOWE) in Salzburg, an organization that creates meaningful work opportunities for people with intellectual and multiple disabilities. Ovis also partners with other local organizations that support people with disabilities and those working toward greater independence, whose participants assist with tasks such as packaging, labeling and bottling.
